Ground Control Takes Boxing Title
McGowan Is The Champ
Two Ground Control boxers entered the ring last night (01/16/09) at Michael's 8th Avenue.
Dennis Marsch made his boxing debut in a 3 round war against a very tough guy. With Dennis clearly taking the first round by forcing his opponent to take a standing 8 count, he went into the second confident, but very tired. Both fighters were stopped in the 2nd with standing 8's of their own. The 3rd was back and forth with his opponent losing his mouth piece time and time again until a point was deducted. Somehow the judges gave the other guy the nod. Lesson? Don't leave it up to the judges.

Dennis in action
The main event of the evening featured Ground Control's own, Ryan McGowan facing a very game Ron Gamble. But Ryan was just to much for him. Within seconds the ref stopped the action to issue a standing 8. McGowan retreated to a neutral corner while Gamble composed himself, but as soon after the action resumed, Ryan KO'd his foe with a brutal hook, hook combo.
With this victory, Ryan became the Maryland State, Super Heavyweight Amateur Champion.
