Marty Kusick R.I.P.
Thursday night we suffered a tragic loss with the passing of Marty Kusick.
With an outstanding wrestling background (3X state champ among his credentials) Marty shared his knowledge of the sport as Ground Control’s wrestling coach. He also shared his infamous “plyo workout” with our MMA team. A routine he acquired during his time at the US Olympic Wrestling Training Facility in Colorado.
Marty had just begun making his mark in the MMA world. His last fight ended in a submission in just 1:05 of round 1. Currently he was preparing for the VFL 140lb. title shot he would have had on 08/22. Looking to the future, he was to make his pro debut in October at the First Mariner Arena.
Marty was the consummate competitor and a fearsome combat athlete. He was a genuine person and a true friend which was evidenced by the hundreds of supporters who made the trips to Virginia to cheer him on.
No words can express the sadness that we feel or what a remarkable person Marty Kusick really was.
We love you Marty and you will never be forgotten.
If you would like to contribute to Marty’s funeral fund, please contact Rob at Ground Control.
